What type of information does the Company collect and why?
When you visit our Site, your browser may send a series of technical data (e.g. Cookies). The information that may be collected includes information about your Internet Service Provider, your operating system, browser type, domain name, the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer (or other electronic Internet-enabled device), your access times, the website that referred you to us, the web pages you request and the date and time of those requests. All data in the log files is not directly related to personal information and will never be merged with other personal information. We register your access for reasons of data security in order to ensure the stability and reliability of our systems and to ward off unauthorized attacks. This may also allow us to find out which parts of the Site are popular or need changing. The log data are for internal purposes only and will not be shared with third parties outside the SciEngines Group. Anyways we take efforts to reduce the footprint of logs, e.g. we ask our internet provider to store only limited digits of IP-Adresses 123.456.xxx.xxx, where ever it becomes resonable.
Cookies & Pixels
Cookies are small pieces of information or text files sent to your computer or browsing device when you access a website. These files are not computer programmes and cannot be used to cause damage to your computer.
“Pixels” are tiny graphics with a unique identifier that are used to track the online movements of web users. Unlike cookies, which are stored on a computer’s hard drive, pixels are small graphics that are about the size of the period at the end of the sentence that are embedded invisibly on web pages or in HTML-based emails.
Our third-party analytics providers may place pixels on the Site that track what other websites you visit (both before and after visiting the Site). Our third-party analytics providers use information obtained from pixels to help us improve our business and the Service. We do not control the use of pixels by third parties.
